The 2024 Chislehurst Half Marathon is a non-profit event run in aid of The Maypole Project - https://www.themaypoleproject.co.uk/ The Project provides a lifeline of support to children with complex medical needs and their whole families. They support children with complex and life-threatening illnesses, across South East London.
The Chislehurst Half Marathon is delighted to once again be supporting The Maypole Project having made donations to The Maypole Project of surpluses amounting to over £31,000 since the inaugural race in 2016.
The Maypole Project's support work relies on fundraising and you can help add to the total of funds raised by setting up your own individual JustGiving page. Should you have any questions want to find out more about fundraising for The Maypole Project then please feel free to contact their Fundraising Manager, Amy Kellaway by e-mail to Amy@themaypoleproject.co.uk
The unique emotional support that The Maypole Project offers is ongoing, flexible, responsive, professional and confidential. Each family is supported by a key worker who is specifically trained and supervised to offer emotional support, which ranges from befriending to counselling or therapy. This can be provided to whole families, one to one, couples, groups, and also extends into the provision of information, advice and advocacy.
Support offered by The Maypole Project includes:
Counselling and befriending;
Activity/Respite days and art groups;
Play therapy;
Maypole Active (inclusive sports club); and
Whole family support.
They support all members of a family where a child has been diagnosed between birth and 18 years of age, as having a complex or life threatening illness.
